Domestic Violence & the DVRO Process
For over 40 years, Counsel for Justice’s Domestic Violence Project (DVP) has helped survivors navigate the legal system by providing one-on-one assistance with restraining orders.
Join Counsel for Justice for a virtual training providing a foundational overview of domestic violence law and the Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO) process in California.
Attendees will learn the legal and procedural framework of the DVRO process under California law, along with the dynamics of power, abuse, and control and how to provide trauma-informed support to survivors.
Interested in volunteering for DVP? This program is the first part of the 2-part DVP volunteer training. The second part of the DVP volunteer training will be held on April 1 (5:00–6:30 PM via Zoom). DVP volunteers assist litigants with preparing DVRO forms under staff supervision. Volunteers must commit to two 3-hour shifts per month. Remote opportunities are available. Bilingual English–Spanish volunteers are especially needed.
