When Art and Justice Meet: Chamber Music for Justice Supports Veterans
On the evening of December 12, the Ostin Ensemble Room at UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music filled with more than music. It filled with purpose.
As the first notes rang out, the room gathered not only to experience the beauty of chamber music, but to stand together in support of justice for veterans across Los Angeles County. Chamber Music for Justice was a reminder that when art and community come together, they can help advance meaningful change.
Featuring two powerful works by Johannes Brahms—Violin Sonata No. 3 in D minor, Op. 108 and Trio for Violin, Horn, and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 40—the evening offered a rich and moving musical experience that resonated far beyond the stage.
Why the Evening Mattered
The concert was held in support of Counsel for Justice’s Veterans Project, which provides free legal services to veterans navigating complex challenges related to housing, benefits, employment, and access to stability after service. Every ticket purchased, every donation made, and every person in attendance helped strengthen that mission.
Throughout the night, there was a shared understanding in the room: justice for veterans does not happen in isolation. It requires a community willing to show up—through service, advocacy, and, in this case, the arts.
A Community United by Purpose
We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us at UCLA and to those who supported the event through their generosity. The evening was memorable not only for the artistry of the musicians, but for the sense of connection and responsibility that filled the space.
As members of the legal community and as neighbors, we share a commitment to stand with those who have served. Events like Chamber Music for Justice reflect what is possible when people come together around a shared purpose—building a community grounded in service and compassion.
This special event was proudly sponsored by the LACBA Armed Forces Committee, whose support reinforces a collective dedication to ensuring veterans are not left to face legal challenges alone.
