A Legacy of Justice, A Future of Hope: Celebrating 40 Years of the Domestic Violence Project
Counsel for Justice marked the Domestic Violence Project’s 40th anniversary with A Legacy of Justice, A Future of Hope, a cocktail reception at Alston & Bird in downtown Los Angeles. The October 1 gathering celebrated four decades of legal assistance for survivors of domestic violence and recognized two leaders who helped shape that work.

Honoring Leadership and Remembering a Lasting Legacy
The celebration honored Hon. Margaret M. Morrow (Ret.), founder of the Domestic Violence Project, and remembered Debbie Kelly, who served as the Project’s Directing Attorney from 2008 to 2016.
Their contributions are part of a history that began in 1986, when the Project was established to help survivors at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse.
Continuing the Work
Today, the Domestic Violence Project provides free legal information and assistance with court documents. Staff and volunteers help survivors understand their options, prepare restraining order paperwork and navigate the court process.
The anniversary offered an opportunity to recognize the people behind this work and the continuing need for accessible legal assistance.
Thank you to everyone who joined the celebration, and to the sponsors, volunteers and supporters who help sustain the Domestic Violence Project.
